The Commuting Students Association & the Rainbow Alliance at Fordham Lincoln Center ask you to donate to the Emergency Release Fund.
The mission of the Emergency Release Fund is to ensure no trans person at risk in New York City jails remains in detention before trial. Trans inmates face a dramatically elevated risk of harm or death in pre-trial detention, as they have historically endured higher rates of violence and sexual assault behind bars. If cash bail is set for a trans person in New York City and no bars to release are in place, bail will be paid by the Emergency Release Fund.
Since the emergence of the coronavirus, the Emergency Release Fund has expanded its focus on freeing trans inmates to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC inmates. While some inmates with minor offense charges and underlying conditions have been released, thousands of people on Riker's Island are left incarcerated and unable to follow social distancing guidelines. As a result, they are left to be exposed to the fatal virus.
CSA and Rainbow Alliance at Fordham Lincoln Center have joined together to raise awareness of this epidemic and support the Emergency Release Fund in New York City. Help us support Trans folx and especially Black Trans fox during these times of duress.
